Privacy Policy
In the course of its commercial activities and in providing services to its clients, Camporese Law Professional Corporation collects personal information about its clients, and others. This information may be used to communicate with our clients and others regarding legal affairs relevant to them and, more specifically, the services that we provide.
When we act on behalf of a client, we use, retain and disclose personal information on behalf of, and as instructed by our client in accordance with the terms of our Retainer Agreement. In the context of this privacy policy, the term “client” includes all current, former and prospective clients.
Camporese Law Professional Corporation only collects personal information by lawful and fair means and further, only collects that which is reasonably necessary for the purposes identified.
Camporese Law Professional Corporation recognizes the importance of protecting personal information. Our use, retention and disclosure of such information is governed by our duty of confidentiality to our client and/or solicitor-client privilege as per the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Government’s guidelines for the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Camporese Law Professional Corporation will only disclose your personal information for the purposes of providing the services for which we are retained, or with your express consent, or if required by law. Examples of when we may disclose your personal information includes but is not limited to:
- When the services we are providing to you require us to provide your information to a third party (for example, as part of the discovery process)
- When we engage an expert witness on your behalf
- When it is necessary to establish or collect fees
- If a court issues a subpoena
Since we use your personal information to provide legal services to you, it is important that the information be accurate and up-to-date. If any of your information changes, please inform us so that we can make any necessary changes.
You may request access to your personal information and there will be no cost for reasonable access though a charge may apply should you require copies. We will not respond to such requests that are frivolous, vexatious or repetitious.
Please be advised that in certain circumstances, we may be unable to provide access to some or all of your personal information. Such circumstances include those in which the personal information cannot be separated from the records of others, cannot be disclosed for reasons of personal security or confidentiality or is protected by professional standards.
You may withdraw or amend any consent previously given to Camporese Law Professional Corporation by contacting us, subject to any legal or contractual restrictions and upon reasonable notice to us.
Our website may contain links to other sites, which are not governed by this policy. Camporese Law Professional Corporation is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites. We may monitor traffic patterns, site usage and related site information in order to optimize our web service. We may provide aggregated demographic information to third parties, but this is not linked to any personal information that can identify an individual person or client without express permission.
We may use cookies on our website from time to time for many purposes, such as to understand visitor behaviour or learn how to better serve our audience. In accordance with Section 8 of the Canadian CASL rules: by visiting our website and continuing to use our website, you are providing implied consent to our use of cookies, unless you have disabled them in your browser.
